Girl

My mother said -
       "Are you sure?"

And my father said -
       "Have you made a will?"
And -
       "Will you take a gun?"

And the girl said -
       In fact I don't remember her saying anything at all.
       She kept, as I recall, very quiet, as if
       She did not quite believe, or understand,
       What I was telling her.
